Smart defaults and useless options Some options are just not worth having. Take this dialog from Google maps: Who ever wants a long URL if they can use a short one? Less clutter like this: Don’t make me think! Related

I find the long URL useful, but only as it is currently the easiest way to extract the latitude and longitude from the map, for use elsewhere. I’d much prefer if they were displayed in an easy to copy way though :)
Web developers want one so they avoid the redirect (if g.co is down), but then again they are smart enough to copy the “end” link.
